This peach crisp yogurt parfait is a healthy take on a classic dessert!
As I’ve mentioned multiple times before, I’m a sucker for something sweet. Cake, ice cream, cookies, cheesecake—it doesn’t matter—if it’s sweet, I’m interested. This has of course made eating healthy extremely difficult, but there are many ways to have a healthier dessert, this peach crisp yogurt parfait being one of them.
Peach season is my favorite, and for some reason I didn’t realize my love for peaches until this year. I picked some up at the farmers market each week and ate them basically every day. Even better that that? We have a peach tree in our back yard!!! I always knew it was there, but we never seemed to get fruit. This year there were quite a few peaches ready for us to enjoy and I couldn’t have been more excited.
I aim to make my recipes as easy as possible. After mixing the yogurt, cutting the peaches, and making the granola, all you have to do is layer the parfait and you’re set with an easy breakfast, snack, or dessert. It’s just like peach crisp with vanilla ice cream, but healthier!
Flavored yogurts are full of sugar and random ingredients, so what better way to avoid this than flavor your own?! Just add some vanilla extract and a little honey and you have a sweet vanilla yogurt. I do this with fruit too—I let a serving of frozen berries thaw out, which creates juices, then mix it with the yogurt and it turns whatever color and flavor of the fruit.
Similarly to yogurt, store-bought granolas can be full of hidden ingredients and sugars which can easily be avoided by making your own. Make a batch of granola over the weekend and have it all week to add to yogurt, eat as cereal, or just have a handful as a snack.
Whether you’re looking for a healthier dessert option or another snack or breakfast idea, enjoy the last few days of peach season and try this peach crisp yogurt parfait!
