Notice things look a little different around here? I can’t even tell you how excited I am about The Small Town Foodie’s makeover! I’ve been wanting to work on it for months and finally took the time over the long weekend to do it. Most people are like: “Yay Labor Day weekend! Time to relax!” and here’s me like: “Yay a long weekend! Time to redesign my blog and make 6 recipes.” LOL.
For a quick reference, here’s a comparison of the old and the new:
Old
(that’s my very first blog post, he-he)
New
The main change is the overall design—I got a new WordPress theme, added a logo, and switched to more professional headshots of me (thanks to my friend Kayla Todd).
The structure is also much cleaner and easier to navigate. You’ll see the most recent post at the top, then 8 of the recent posts after that listed at the bottom for quick reference. MUCH better than the home page before, which was just pages and pages of blog posts.
You can also easily connect to my social media pages in the right side bar!
I have new menu items at the top! First, there’s a recipe page. You can easily find recipes based on the category, look at archives, or search.
I got a new recipe card, which is the box at the bottom of the page that lists the ingredients and directions. The boyfriend of a fellow food blogger, Fooduzzi, created this card and it’s REALLY cool. Not only is it simple, but you can click on ingredients and directions and cross it out as you move along making the recipe. I had to go through and update all 30+ of my recipes with it, but it was more than worth it. Learn more about it here.
And then the “Life” page! I love sharing recipes and all, but sometimes I just have much more to say than that. Here I’ll be posting about gardening, healthy beauty and home, life updates—basically anything not related to recipes.
I’m still working on everything and I may switch things around, but I hope you love the new design as much as I do! Feel free to provide any feedback below—I want my blog to be as easy to use as possible 🙂
