This apple crumble is a take on a traditional dessert, but healthier and spiralized!
With all this talk about pumpkin, we can’t forget about the good ‘ol apple as another fall staple. The first weekend in October is always Applefest at home, which is full of crafters, festival food, events, and allll the apples (my favorite part). I always indulge a little and get myself a giant chocolate covered apple, usually with some type of topping like Heath or rocky road, and a bag full of honey crisp apples, too. Sadly, the honeycrisp this year were kinda puny, usually they are SO big, so I settled on fuji, which are still delicious.
My favorite way to eat an apple is to slice it, sprinkle on some cinnamon, and dip it in nut butter! Honestly, though, I love apple everything. Pie, dumplings, crisp, cobbler, sauteed, butter. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I decided I’d experiment and try my own take on one of my favorite apple recipes, which led to this spiralized apple crumble!
You may be like “What the heck does spiralized mean?” and, if so, I’m happy to introduce you to the magical world of spiralizing! What if I told you that you could take some of your favorite fruits and veggies and turn them into delicious noodles, for healthy substitutions or their own creative meals? Well, it’s possible!
I started spiralizing using a crappy handheld spiralizer, which led to lots of frustration in the kitchen. While looking at different food blogs online, I stumbled upon Inspiralized, a blog all about spiralizing. I followed Ali, the entrepreneur behind Inspiralized, for quite a while on social media (especially snapchat) and finally bought her product–the Inspiralizer. I was anxious to get started and try different recipes!
The Inspiralizer is a table top spiralizer, rather than a handheld, and super easy to use. I started making sweet potato egg hash, crispy hash browns, zucchini noodle pasta, and so much more. My mom actually had the first Inspiralized cookbook and let me borrow it. She came out with a second cookbook, Inspiralize Everything, this past August and I of course pre-ordered it back in May. The books not only provide recipes, but tell Ali’s story and provide tips for spiralizing each fruit or vegetable.
When I saw that Ali created an Inspiralized Ambassador Program I didn’t think twice before applying! I got accepted shortly after and now I get to help spread the word about spiralizing and the Inspiralizer (even though I was already doing that)! As an ambassador, though, I actually get a small amount of each purchase of the Inspiralizer through my link: bit.ly/InspiralizerSmallTownFoodie. You can save 10% off your purchase by using coupon code ASHLEY10.
Ever since I’ve started spiralizing my food, I’ve found myself eating much healthier and trying different recipes. Plus, it’s fun!!! And isn’t that what cooking and eating should be about? If you’re interested in spiralizing, do not hesitate to contact me to learn more! Comment below, email me at thesmalltownfoodie@gmail.com, or connect with me on social media. I highly encourage you to check out Ali’s website too, to see all there is to do with a spiralizer.
Enough about all that, back to this delicious apple crumble.
Seriously this is so simple. Add the spiralized apple with cinnamon, lemon juice, and coconut oil to a baking dish and top with an easy crumble, made of just a few ingredients. While it bakes, the apples get tender and juicy, while the crumble on top gets crispy. It’s heavenly! I like topping it with a dollop of vanilla Greek yogurt and some more cinnamon.
So get yourself a spiralizer if you don’t have one and make this healthier version of the classic apple crumble!
Reminder: If you do decide to purchase the Inspiralizer, make sure to use my link and share it with others: bit.ly/InspiralizerSmallTownFoodie, and use code ASHLEY10 to save 10%.

Additional Notes
*I like to use blade B or C on the Inspiralizer, which makes wide or medium sized noodles, but you could really make any size.
